It was founded by Gordon Armour in the early 1940s and began as a small operation hauling hay and gravel from Taylor Village, New Brunswick. Initially focused on local freight, the business expanded to include hauling for Kraft Foods and commodities like Christmas trees to the United States. In 1955, Gordon obtained a general freight and motor carrier license, establishing GM Armour & Son Ltd.
In 1966, Gordon’s son Wesley joined the company and, two years later, took over as President and CEO at the young age of 22. Under Wesley’s leadership, it expanded rapidly by staying flexible, fulfilling customer commitments, and developing tailored logistics solutions.
Today, the company ranks among Canada’s leading transportation providers with over 2,000 employees. With 24 terminals and more than 4,000 pieces of equipment, the operations remain efficient. Partnerships with major carriers extend services beyond Canada to the United States, Mexico, and internationally.
