Over the years, the company has evolved into a robust logistics provider, operating a fleet of 70 trucks and employing around 130 dedicated personnel. Its origins trace back to Mr. Campbell, who initially transported orders from local merchants in Philadelphia to Pitman and Glassboro. Using ingenuity, he would tie parcels to his body and travel by train to deliver them personally. The turning point for the company came in 1918 when he acquired his first truck, rebranding the business as “Campbell’s Auto Express.” This strategic move marked the transition from horse-drawn transport to motorized logistics, setting the foundation for the company’s future growth. In 1923, Mr. Randall Worthington took over the business, continuing its operation as a small truck service.
The enactment of the Motor Carrier Act in 1935 was pivotal for this company, as it received its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, a legacy that still holds significance today. The company changed hands again in 1945 when Louis G. Hannum, Sr. and his wife acquired it, passing ownership to their children, Cheryl Gallagher and Mike Hannum, by 2005. Currently, Esther Gallagher and William Messenger co-own the company, ensuring that the family legacy continues with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service quality.
